WHITE
2010 Verget Saint-Verans Terres de Pierres 12.5% abv Macannais France Avg price $26.
My Tasting Notes
Appearance: clear, color of straw and lemon. Nose: clean, light intensity with primary aroma pear. Palate was dry, medium acidity, medium body, medium finish. Flavor like a tart apple. My favorite of these 3 whites.
Other information
Saint Veran information from Wine Searcher
All Saint-Veran wines are made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape variety. They are traditionally dry in style, yet more full-bodied than other white Burgundies. In their youth, they have floral aromas and notes of white stone fruit, developing into more honeyed, nutty aromas with age. The finest examples show a hint of pierre a fusil – the mineral, flinty aroma so prized in Burgundian white wines.

2015 Louis Jadot Pouilly Fusse 13% abv Maconnais, France Avg price $27.

Puzzling and wine tasting is a great way to end the year and to tackle Christmas eve leftovers. We devoured crab cakes and bacon wrapped blue cheese stuffed dates. A big thank you to Chef Patrick for putting those together.
Purchased from Last Bottle for $16
My Tasting Notes: Appearance: clear, lemon in color. Nose: clean, light intensity with aromas of stone fruit, nectarines. Palate: dry, medium acidity light body with medium finish. Flavor Characteristics: I tasted some green fruit, pear along with a little stone fruit, apricot. There was some sweet spice, vanilla along with a bit of mint and green pepper.
Other information:
Penny noted that the wine tasted sweeter with the crab cake.
The folks at Last Bottle said Camille Besson is a family producer that makes a "classic, pure and super-fresh Chablis with ta touch of ripeness to balance the acidity and minerality."

Information from Wine Searcher. Les Clos is the largest and most widely known of the seven climats of the Chablis Grand Cru white wine appellation. It covers a single, southwest-facing slope above the town of Chablis itself, and is planted exclusively to the Chardonnay grape variety. Chablis Les Clos wines are generally more powerful and intense than the other Grand Crus, and are often associated with ripe stonefruit, orange peel and honey. With a tendency to be more closed in their youth than those from the other climats, they are famous for their long-term aging potential, showing a balance between power and finesse.
Mischief and Mayhem Grand Vins de Bourgogne Bourgogne 2014 12.5% abv $32.99
My Tasting Notes: Appearance: clear, pale intensity with a lemon color. Nose: clean with light intensity and aromas of lemon, flowers, honey and butter. The palate is dry, medium acidity, body and finish. The flavor was more mineral, stoney with a bit of hazelnut and slight vanilla.
Other information: Mischief and Mayhem is a winery, micro-negociant and domaine. They practice sustainable and organic viticulture, keeping yields low in the vineyards, and hand pick all grapes. They use very little oak for elevage, experimenting with stainless steel and ceramic vessels. Their goal is to create wines that are natural, pure and individual expressions of both the grape and the vineyard. Their style is described as modern. Notes from the winemaker Bright pale straw with hints of green and a water white rim. Intense nose of great purity, with plenty of lime, lemon and pear fruit, along with hints of apricot, flint, barley sugar and white currant. Lean, refreshing, and mineral with good intensity, ripeness, and acidic profile. Lemon notes and plenty of green apple fruit, along with hints of greengage, elder flower, mineral and delicate vanilla. The finish is lively, vibrant, long and pure.
