Wine Adventure: Ontario Canada and Finger Lakes of New York

Exploring Wine Regions:
the Niagara Peninsula of Canada and
the Finger Lakes of New York
October 13 - 19, 2018

It's all about Riesling!

Day 1  Saturday. October 13, 2018:
Dianne and I began our road trip at 11:30 AM. First stop was in Florence for a delicious cinnamon roll at Steamin Joe Coffeehouse then a stop in Gulliver for mass at Divine Infant of Prague Catholic Mission Church. Gas in St Ignace plus a stop at Taste of the Upper Peninsula for pasties. Onward across the Mackinac Bridge to Gaylord.

The pasties were delicious with this Spanish wine, Honoro Vera, from the Jumilla region. Made from the Monastrell grape (a.k.a. Mouvedre). Great first night at the Fairfield Inn.

NOTE: Dianne kept us fueled with delicious hard boiled eggs.

Day 2  Sunday. October 14, 2018:
A quick breakfast and on the road to Canada. Fist stop Thirty Bench.

Hands down, one of our favorite experiences. I especially loved the Sparking Riesling. This is where we also discovered, sadly, that Canada does not ship wine to the US.  We did buy wine to bring home.

Emma Gardner is the wine maker.  The specific AVA is Beemsville Bench. We so wanted to taste their award winning Cab Franc but they sold out the day before.

Onward to check in at our hotel and then off again. This time to Two Sisters Vineyard. Absolutely stunning property. Dianne discovered a delicious Rose and remarked, "I must have been drinking bad Rose up until now." Two Sisters in the Niagara of the Lake area.

We had a super delicious dinner at Naigara's Finest Thai. The Pad Thai was amazing with a glass of  local Cab Franc.

Day 3. Our 1st day in the Finger Lakes Region of New York
