VDP means Verband Deutscher Pradikatsweinguter. This is an independent group of German wine producers who classify their vineyards by consenus.
Villages with the best reputations are Piesport. Bernkastel and Wehlen. Steep slopes near the river. Slate soil.
Rieslings are typically lighter in body, lower in alcohol and higher in acidity compared to Rueslings from Rheingau, Rhenhessen and Pflaz. Floralk and green fruit flavors predominate.

This is a real lover wine. With instructions for use, because this riesling needs - like many red wines - aeration. You notice that, because smell and taste develop beautifully as the bottle stays open longer. So do not hesitate: aerate the wine in a decanter and enjoy dry Moselle of true top quality.
Spicy aromas and strong fruit dominate this dominant Riesling of red slate, which goes well with stronger dishes, roast poultry or vegetables, Asian (Arabic and German) cuisine and spicy cheese (fenugreek cheese, Münster, Maroilles, etc.). Late harvest from the plot Rothenpfad in the Great Location Marienburg. 89 points at Jean Fisch & David Rayer at Mosel Fine Wines

One of the most remarkable of Alsace grape varieties which combines a full-bodied, heady but dry fruitiness. Its generous personality and its hint of smokiness make it the perfect accompaniment for a wide variety of gastronomic dishes.
Pair with: terrines, fish in sauce, smoked or raw, white meats, veal sweetbreads, mushrooms, well-seasoned and aromatic dishes, Asian cuisine…
Yellow colour. Tropical fruits, some citrus, minerals. Full bodied, sweet tropical fruits, a bit low in acidity, a touch of bitterness and a quite long, a little bit too sweet finish.
"An elegant white, with a frame of firm acidity that is well-meshed with a layer of smoky minerality and flavors of dried apricot, toasted almond, lemon curd and herb. Drink now through 2020." - Alison Napjus, Dec 31, 2014

Baden is the warmest and most southerly region and produces the fullest bodied German wines with the highest alcohols. The third largest growing region in Germany. The area has a reputation for top quality Spatburgunder, the most widely planted variety in Baden.
Saptsburgunder is also grown in Pfalz. Wines are dry and either relatively light and fruity or made in a concentrated style that often includes oak aromas.
Tuniberg (1000 ha) is a small hill that lies between the Black Forest and the Kaiserstuhl. The Tuniberg is comprised of terraces and boasts a unique microclimate that sets it apart from the Kaiserstuhl, as a whole; in general, the wines contain higher acidities than the rest of the region. It is fresh and bright with black cherry flavors and clear limestone character

Aromas of appealing red fruits, violet and blackcurrant. After breathing, notes of cherry and eau-de-vie (French brandy) appear. A full and juicy Saint-Joseph precise and smoothed out tannins for a subtle and complex wine.
Nicolas Badel has been working his Saint-Joseph vineyards near the town of Limony since 1999 but sold his wine to the local coop until his first vintage in 2010.
Vinification The wine is fermented in cement vats and then aged in old barrels.
Tasting Notes This a wine of balance: on the one hand there is tremendous freshness, the other plenty of warmth and spice. On the nose, notes of blackberries, olives, and sage come out along with meaty aromas. In the mouth, the tannins are present but fine, giving the wine great grip.
Recommended Pairings Grilled chicken, grilled sausages, tapenade, vegetable tian
