Textbook unctuous peaches and honeysuckle. A touch of acidity and dash of bitterness on the finish keep it all together. Lots going on. Big fan.
Floral, sweetish nose. Palate is floral, licorice, candy and off dry. Pretty, and low in acid. Not worth the $, I say.
Like the rest of the 2012 Condrieus recently tasted, this is full-bodied and rich without being overdone. Apricot and ginger aromas lead into flavors reminiscent of honeycomb, white pepper and apricot. The texture is slightly oily, but that's balanced on the finish by peppery spice

"More profound and complex, the Condrieu La Combe de Malleval 2012 offers aromas and flavors of mandarin, apricot, white flowers and litchi. A classic Condrieu, with nice aromatic notes, a lot of texture and a definite finish, to savor during the next 3 to 5 years. (Wine Advocate 2013 - Robert Parker)

This tiny estate, located in the village of Ampuis, consists of 15 acres (6 acres are within the Cote Rotie appellation). Prior to 1980, Michel, the father, sold off both his fruit and the wines he produced to the large negociant Marcel Guigal. Michel began to bottle his wines under his own label, and Bobby’s first vintage working with Domaine Ogier was 1988. Today, more than 20 years later, Stephane Ogier, his son, is in charge of the property. His youthful energy and passion for the vineyards and winemaking have resulted in the estate’s rise to superstar status over the past ten years.

Wine Spectator 92 points - Very juicy, with succulent pineapple, peach and apricot fruit flavors melded together while heather and anise details hold the finish. Buried acidity and a faint yet persistent bitter almond hint keeps this poised despite the overt tropical profile. Drink now. 100 cases imported.-JM  (Oct 15 2014)

Vinous 92 points - Light gold. Intensely perfumed pear and peach pit aromas are lifted and sharpened by a bright lemon zest nuance and a dusty mineral note. Silky and seamless, boasting excellent focus to its lively orchard and citrus fruit flavors. Shows very good clarity on the mineral-dominated finish, which features a juicy pear note and a touch of candied anise.  (Mar 2014)

Wine Advocate 93 points - More deep and layered, the 2012 Condrieu La Combe de Malleval offers knockout aromas and flavors of tangerine, apricot, white flowers and lychee nut. A classic Condrieu, with beautiful aromatics, plenty of texture and a clean finish, enjoy it over the coming 3-5 years. (Dec 2013)

Varietal: Syrah

Color: Great density. Edges are deep purple and the bowl is virtually black.
Nose: True Syrah. Lots of black fruit with a hint of smoke and vanilla. Clove component.
Palate: Full bodied. Layers of dried fruit, berries, clove and tobacco abound. Hint of smoke.
Finish: Very Long. Needs a big meal. Make sure you have big game or BBQ beef ribs for this one.
Unbelievably well made bottle of Syrah for the $17 Invino deal price. Mature but definitely has the legs to go a few more years. Fruit is still there but the secondary flavors dominate, stewed fruits, pleasant long finish. This was a steal and I’ll buy all I can if it shows up again.
